Mike Bickle
December 01, 2009
The Sacred Charge is a prophetic call to refuse to settle for anything less than radical pursuit of God and His purposes for this generation. This teaching challenges us to live in wholehearted pursuit of Jesus as forerunners who operate in the power of the Holy Spirit today, as we prepare ourselves to prepare others for the Lord’s return. Mike Bickle identifies seven foundational commitments to walk out this sacred charge in everyday life, with insights and practical steps on how to do this.

John Edmiston

The book has six short chapters and a one page introduction. The chapters outline the problem then discuss local area networks and task focused Christian ministries then go on to look at how we can devolve the work that denominations are doing over to these two structures and close the door at denominational HQ. The book is in a concise question and answer format. It is a plea for unity and sanity. Its provocative I hope but also moderate, balanced and as wise as I can make it. It is written from an Australian perspective but with appropriate changes should apply to the majority of Western denominational situations.

Of Men and Angels is one of those rare and unique books that stand out from the crowd. From the moment you load it onto your computer you know you are launching into a fascinating journey. The eBook is loaded with fascinating photos, popup textboxes, pages that visually turn in 3d, user interactivity and engaging content. The premise of the book is rather interesting. The author, John Tisdale, proposes that if this reality was created by God for a purpose, that purpose must have required this reality to be precisely as we find it. Therefore, what purpose could possibly require a surreal, chaotic reality like ours. His answer takes the reader on a fascinating journey of exploration.

After seminary studies, he served as pastor of a church in Missouri, and during the Civil War he ministered to soldiers as an army chaplain. After the war he again served as a pastor, where he encouraged powerful weekly prayer sessions. He was devoted to private prayer between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Along with much preaching, he edited several Christian newspapers and wrote eleven books. A chaplain during the American Civil War, Edward M. Bounds was a prolific writer especially about the importance of prayer in Christian life. John Tisdale
July 28, 2010
In this insightful book, John Tisdale shares principles that separate the practice of true faith from humanistic, religious imitations. He helps uncover how God's purposes are designed to help us turn to Him in faith in our times of need and lack. When we combine faith and brokenness, we position ourselves to experience life in God and bring Him the glory He created us to give Him.
Whether they realize it or not, what many Christians practice is more a form of humanism than it is true faith in Christ. Their faith in Jesus didn’t carry much beyond their initial point of salvation. What they practice on a day-to-day basis doesn’t involve much faith at all. They live as if they’ve been abandoned by their Lord and left to carry out His commands entirely on their own. As a result, their lives are typified by emptiness, guilt and boredom.

Brother Lawrence
August 21, 2009
Brother Lawrence (1614 to 1691) was a monk who today is most commonly remembered for the closeness of his relationship with God, as recorded in this little book. He spent almost all of his adult life in solitude, poverty, and obscurity within the walls of a priory. He was known for profound peace and high commitment to Jesus Christ. He cared not for the worldly status of his tasks, but the motivation behind it. "We can do little things for God," he wrote. "I turn the cake that is frying on the pan for love of him, and that done, if there is nothing else to call me, I prostrate myself in worship before him, who has given me grace to work; afterwards I rise happier than a king. It is enough for me to pick up but a straw from the ground for the love of God." Generations after his death, this book has become one of the most popular Christian books in history. It was oft quoted by John Wesley and A.W. Tozer, and today tens of millions of copies are in circulation. Here is one of the most beautiful and touching stories of Christian devotion ever written.

A.W. Tozer
August 21, 2009
In the muddle of day-to-day life, have you somehow forgotten that Christianity is a living, vibrant relationship with a personal God? In this classic bestseller and recipient of both the ECPA Gold and Platinum Book Awards, The Pursuit of God reminds and challenges you to renew your relationship with your loving God. In each of the 10 chapters, Tozer explains one aspect of hungering for God and ends with a prayer. During a train trip from Chicago in the late 1940s, A.W. Tozer began to work on The Pursuit of God. He wrote all night long, the words coming to him as fast as he could put them down. By the next morning, when the train pulled into McAllen, Texas, the rough draft was done. Although written in such a remarkably short period of time, the depth, clarity and completeness of Tozer's message has made The Pursuit of God an enduring favorite -- about 1.7 million copies in print in 15 languages. Prepare yourself for a deeply meaningful and enjoyable experience.

Fasting is a gift from God that goes much further than not eating; it is a means to experiencing the power and affections of God. Jesus promised us that we would be rewarded for fasting. Done in the right spirit, fasting increases our receptivity to God's voice and His Word. This book explores the rewards and delights that come to those who fast. Fasting. It sounds difficult. Fasting every week. That sounds impossible! Our society considers hunger among the worst of fates, but God calls fasting part of our faith. Hunger for God is not foreign to anyone who loves Jesus . It is an ache within that makes us desperate for deeper measures of abundant life. What may be new to some people is that fasting is an avenue God has chosen to answer our hunger and to fuel our experience of Him. Fasting is essential because it answers our cry for more of God.

God has placed deep longings in the heart of every human being. We all long for beauty, for greatness, for fascination, for intimacy. We all long to be enjoyed, to be whole-hearted, to make a lasting impact. Many of us have been taught to deny these longings. We've been told they are not of God. But the problem is not the longings -- they are given of God and cannot be denied. Problems only arise when we attempt to fulfill godly, legitimate longings in ungodly, wrong ways. Only God can fulfill the longings He has given to us. Only God can truly satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts. When we realize our longings are godly and God wants to fulfill them, we find freedom and joy. We experience intimacy with God in ways we'd never thought possible.

E.M. Bounds
August 21, 2009
It must never be forgotten that Almighty God rules this world. He is not an absentee God. His band is ever on the throttle of human affairs. He is everywhere present in the concerns of time. "His eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men." He rules the world just as He rules the Church by prayer. This lesson needs to be emphasized, iterated and reiterated in the ears of men of modern times and brought to bear with cumulative force on the consciences of this generation whose eyes have no vision for the eternal things, whose ears are deaf toward God. A chaplain during the American Civil War, Edward M. Bounds was a prolific writer especially about the importance of prayer in Christian life. After being released as a prisoner of war, Bounds traveled the country as an itinerant pastor, bringing many to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Charles Spurgeon
August 31, 2009
First published in 1896. Spurgeon was an English Baptist preacher, known as "the Prince of Preachers". The Preface begins: " For many years, whether at home or abroad, it was Mr. Spurgeon's constant custom to observe the ordinance of the Lord's supper every Sabbath-day, unless illness prevented. This he believed to be in accordance with apostolic precedent; and it was his oft-repeated testimony that the more frequently he obeyed his Lord's command, "This do in remembrance of Me," the more precious did his Saviour become to him, while the memorial celebration itself proved increasingly helpful and instructive as the years rolled by." According to Wikipedia: "Charles Haddon Spurgeon, commonly C.H. Spurgeon, ( 1834 – 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." He also founded the charity organization now known as Spurgeon's, that works worldwide with families and children, as well as a famous theological college which after his death was called after him: Spurgeon's College.
